Villa Pool Construction
Villa pool construction is the building of a concrete or prefabricated pool, sized for family use, in the garden or on the terrace of a private home, under one contract from survey to commissioning. Slope, privacy, heating and automation shape the design. Çilek Havuz has delivered villa pools since 1993 and gives a 2-year warranty on construction workmanship.

What drives the decisions on these projects
This page is written for villa owners and their architects. The overall construction process, materials and cost items are covered on our Swimming Pool Construction page; here we focus only on the issues that change decisions at villa scale: how the pool relates to the house and the neighbours, structural solutions on sloping plots, heating for a longer season and automation that cuts down daily work.

Privacy and pool location
The pool's position is chosen first around how the house is used.
- If it can be seen from the living room or kitchen, parents with children can keep an eye on it more easily; keeping it away from the bedroom side reduces pump and water noise.
- Along edges visible from neighbouring plots we plan a landscape wall, a planted screen or a sun terrace set at a lower level.
- The plant room goes where its noise will not reach living spaces and where the maintenance team can get to it easily.
Sloping plots and structural design
On hillside villas the pool often sits partly in excavation and partly on fill.
- In that case a soil survey and a structural design are essential: on the fill side the shell is carried by retaining walls and foundations, and retaining loads are not transferred to the pool wall.
- A slope is also an opportunity for an overflow or infinity edge, with the water line open towards the view and the balance tank placed at the lower level.
- Where there is groundwater, drainage and uplift calculations are added to the design.
Heating and heat loss
Extending the season of a villa pool means planning heating and heat loss together.
- A heat pump, a heat exchanger connected to the house's existing boiler or solar collectors are compared against the planned usage calendar and the home's energy infrastructure.
- A pool cover stops evaporation, the main source of heat loss, so the cover is listed as a separate item in the heating quotation.
- For indoor or semi-enclosed pools, a dehumidifier is part of the project.
Automation and remote monitoring
The purpose of automation is to spare the owner daily testing and carrying chemicals around.
- pH and chlorine (or salt electrolysis) are handled by automatic dosing, filtration and heating by timer programmes, and lighting and the cover from a single panel; on suitable systems we set up phone monitoring and alarms.
- Automation does not replace maintenance: backwashing, sensor calibration and seasonal checks remain part of the maintenance schedule.
Family use and safety
Villa pools are mostly used by families with children.
- Non-slip coping stones, the layout of ladders and steps, a clearly marked change in depth, dual main drains or drains with safety covers and, where needed, a pool fence or safety cover are all addressed in the design from the start.
- Safety measures added later often spoil the look; measures designed in from the beginning become part of the landscape.

How we work
Site survey
We inspect levels, access, ground conditions and existing services on site, and discuss pool type (skimmer, overflow, infinity, prefabricated) and size options based on how the family will use it.
Design and quotation
We prepare the layout, the structural design and the mechanical installation design; heating, automation and lighting are listed as separate items in the quotation.
Construction
Excavation, the reinforced concrete shell, waterproofing and finishes are completed; embedded pipework is pressure tested before it is covered.
Mechanical works and commissioning
Filtration, heating and automation are installed, the water balance is set and the system is run and demonstrated to the owner.
After handover

Where there is groundwater, drainage and uplift are calculated. The decision is made during the site survey, after seeing the plot in person.

The pool needs heating sized for its volume, a pool cover that stops evaporation and pipework suited to winter conditions. Heating is usually a heat pump or a heat exchanger connected to the house boiler. For an outdoor pool the usable season depends on the climate; for an indoor pool, dehumidification and ventilation are added to the design.
