Villa pool designs

Most people planning a pool for a villa garden start with the same question: what kind of pool suits my plot? Below are pools Çilek Havuz completed at private villas: rectangular skimmer pools, overflow pools and prefabricated pools. Each photo links to its project page, where you will find more images and details.

Project photos come from Çilek Havuz's own work, with the location and type of build under each image. The large images between sections are design visuals.

Villa pools with wellness

Adding a sauna, hammam or steam room next to the pool is explained in a spa area in your villa.

01Choosing a design

How to choose a villa pool

A villa pool is used by more people than a family pool: guests, children, sometimes tenants for a week at a time. So the choice is about more than looks. More layouts are collected in our villa pool design ideas. These questions come up on almost every villa we build:

  1. Flat garden in front of the house

A long rectangular pool on the same axis as the terrace keeps the view from the living room open and leaves one usable lawn.

See in the gallery: Garden villa pools
  2. Sea or city view on a slope

An infinity edge on the low side makes the most of the view. It needs a soil survey and room for a balance tank in the plant room.

  3. Sauna, hammam or hot tub nearby

If the villa has a wellness area, place it one step from the pool so the two are used together and share the plant room.

  4. Guests and children

A shallow section that is physically separate from the deep water, a cover that can take weight and a fence where local rules ask for one.

  5. Privacy and shade

Walls, planting and a pergola decide whether the pool gets used at midday. For owners from hot climates this often matters more than the pool shape.

02Sizes and depth

Sizes and depth

The sizes we build most often for villa pools are 4x8 and 5x10 metres. A 4x8 pool is enough for two to four people and is economical to heat and maintain; a 5x10 pool gives families who host guests a real swimming area. Position the pool in relation to the house rather than the view, because a pool you can see from the living room gets used far more. On a sloping plot an infinity edge does not change the pool size, but it needs extra room in the plant room and a heavier concrete section. The details are in our guide to villa pool sizes.

03Materials and surroundings

Materials and surroundings

At a villa the area around the pool is seen as much as the water. These are the finishes in the photos above; surfaces and planting are covered in pool surroundings and decking.

Glass mosaic
Used on infinity edges and curved pools. It keeps its colour in strong sun and follows the edge line cleanly.
Natural stone coping
Frames the water and ties the pool to the terrace. It must be slip-resistant when wet and not heat up too much in summer.
Deck and paving
Wood or composite deck around the loungers, stone on the walking routes. The deck is where most of the day is spent, so it is worth choosing a surface that stays comfortable underfoot.
Underwater and garden lighting
Lights in the pool walls and along the paths let the pool be used after dark and make the garden safer for guests.

04Care

Care for a villa that is let

A villa pool is often at its busiest when the owner is not there. Once the filter and water routine is set up, it takes little time each week; automatic dosing and remote monitoring make it easier, but they do not replace regular testing. The seasonal routine is in four-season pool care.

  • Changeover days: water balance, filter and a surface clean before new guests arrive.
  • Heating: the heat pump is started a few days ahead so spring and autumn guests find the water warm.
  • Opening and winterising: the job most often missed at a holiday villa. Our pool maintenance and service team can do it for you.

05Price

What drives the price

Villa pools vary more in price than standard garden pools, because the site and the surroundings vary more. Two villas with the same pool size can end up far apart once the ground and the terrace are counted. These are the lines that move the total.

  1. Size and depth. The water volume sets the pump, the filter and the heating. Excavation and a plant room are needed at every size.

  2. Edge type. An infinity edge adds a balance tank, a channel and a larger pump.

  3. The plot. Slope, rock, retaining walls and access for machines.

  4. Finish and coping. Mosaic, tile and natural stone differ a lot in cost.

  5. Equipment. Heat pump, cover, lighting and automation.

  6. Around the pool. Deck, shade structures, landscaping and a wellness area if one is planned.

How we price a project is explained on our pool construction page. For your villa, send us the plot details through the quote form.

Most villa pools we build are 4x8 or 5x10 metres. A 4x8 pool is enough for two to four people and is economical to heat; 5x10 suits larger groups who spend the day by the water. The garden should keep a walkway on every side and room for loungers.

A slope towards the view, a soil survey, a retaining structure on the low side and room in the plant room for a balance tank. The water spills over the edge into a catch channel below. It suits plots with a clear view; on a flat garden it adds cost without the effect.

Yes. A heat pump sized for the pool surface and a cover that is used every night are the usual answer. The cover keeps most of the heat in, so the heat pump works less. For guests who arrive early in the season, heating is started a few days ahead.

A separate shallow section, not a step inside the deep water, is the first requirement. Slip-resistant coping, lighting around the edge and a cover or fence where local rules ask for one complete the measures. For let villas we also plan clear depth markings and a lockable plant room.

The size, the edge type, the ground and access, the finish and the equipment. Infinity edges, retaining walls and heating add the most. Deck, shade and landscaping are separate lines, and they are often what makes a villa pool feel finished.
