AstralPool Alaska Chiller is a compact water chiller installed outdoors to cool pool water. Çilek Havuz supplies Alaska through quotes and as part of its projects. Its six models deliver 4.4 kW to 22.7 kW of cooling, measured at 27°C air and 12°C water. Alaska-4 and Alaska-6 run on a 220-240 V single-phase supply, the other models on 380-400 V three-phase. The casing is magnesium-coated aluminium and the evaporator is titanium.

Users and applications
Alaska is intended for sites in hot climates where the pool water is to be kept cool. It is used on outdoor pools that warm up in the sun during the summer months. The unit is installed in the open air and rejects heat through its fans. Single-phase Alaska-4 and Alaska-6 are chosen for a small pool, three-phase models for a large pool. If the unit is to be installed in a plant room, the Siberia family is considered.

Installation and compatible equipment
Alaska is installed in the open air on a level base where the fan outlet is not obstructed. The water inlet and outlet are connected to the pool line after the filter. Alaska-4 and Alaska-6 require a single-phase supply, the other models a 380-400 V three-phase supply. The water flow is kept within 6-10, 7-12 or 10-15 m³/h depending on the model. Weight ranges from 80 kg to 197 kg.
- The model is selected according to the cooling demand (4.4-22.7 kW).
- The unit is placed in the open air with the fan outlet left clear.
- The water line is connected to the chiller inlet after the filter.
- A single-phase or three-phase supply is run according to the model.
- The water flow is set within the range of the model.
// 04 · Maintenance
Maintenance checkpoints
Maintenance on a chiller means keeping the air coil clean and preventing scale on the water side. The coil is cleared of leaves and dust, and the area around the casing is kept open. The pH and hardness of the pool water are kept in balance. At the end of the season the unit is switched off and the water circuit is drained. The R407C refrigerant circuit is opened only by an authorised service.

AstralPool Alaska Chiller passes the water through a titanium evaporator and rejects the heat to the outdoor air through its fans. The six models deliver 4.4 kW to 22.7 kW of cooling. The model is selected according to the pool volume and the temperature at which the water is to be kept.

Alaska-4 and Alaska-6 run on a 220-240 V single-phase supply. Alaska-8, Alaska-10, Alaska-15 and Alaska-17 require 380-400 V three-phase. The single-phase models deliver 4.4 kW and 5.7 kW of cooling. A pool that needs higher cooling capacity requires a three-phase line to be run to the site.

Alaska is installed outdoors, while AstralPool Siberia Chiller is installed indoors. Both families offer the same cooling steps: 4.4 kW to 22.7 kW. At the same step, Alaska has the higher EER value: 3.3 on Alaska-4 and 2.4 on Siberia-4. Siberia sends the warm air into a duct with a centrifugal fan and is installed in an enclosed space.

The minimum operating air temperature is 5°C; the Alaska chiller is not run below this temperature. Cooling capacity is measured at 27°C air and 12°C water. The unit is used in the hot summer months when the pool water warms up. At the end of the season the chiller is switched off, the water circuit is drained and the air coil is cleaned.

Depending on the model, it measures between 1311 x 746 x 512 mm and 1728 x 866 x 708 mm. Weight is 80 kg on Alaska-4 and 197 kg on Alaska-17. The unit is placed in the open air with clearance left in front of the fans and the coil. The base is prepared level enough to carry this weight.

Through its Modbus connection, Alaska is connected to building automation or a monitoring system. The unit also has a heating priority mode that takes over control of the filtration pump. In this way the chiller and the filtration pump run to the same schedule. The wiring and settings on the automation side are planned separately in the installation project.

The Alaska chiller runs on R407C refrigerant. Its casing is magnesium-coated aluminium; the evaporator has a G2 titanium coil. The product carries a 2-year warranty. The refrigerant charge is 2 kg on Alaska-4 and 6.6 kg on Alaska-17. The warranty period is the same on all Alaska models. The cooling output of the six models ranges from 4.4 kW to 22.7 kW.
