Zodiac Z400iQ is an ON-OFF pool heat pump that heats pool water with heat from the outside air. Çilek Havuz supplies Z400iQ through quotes and as part of its projects. The five models deliver between 9.8 kW and 22 kW of heating output; MD4 and MD5 run on 220 - 240 V single-phase, and TD7, TD8 and TD9 on 380 - 400 V three-phase. With the air at 26°C, the COP reaches up to 5.9, and the unit operates down to -12°C outside air.

Users and applications
Zodiac Z400iQ is chosen for villa and residential complex pools that are installed outdoors and heated through the season or all year. The model is determined by the pool volume, whether the pool is covered and the building's electrical infrastructure. MD4 or MD5 is chosen for a home with a single-phase supply, and TD7, TD8 or TD9 for a large pool with a three-phase supply.

// 03 · Installation and compatibility
Installation and compatible equipment
Z400iQ is connected to the filtration return line after the filter and heats while the filtration pump is running. The unit is installed outdoors on a solid base with anti-vibration mounts. The electrical line is run in a 3 x 2.5 or 5 x 2.5 mm² cross-section depending on the model. The line is protected by a separate circuit breaker in the panel.
- An open, well-ventilated point away from windows is chosen for the unit.
- The anti-vibration mounts are placed on the base and the unit is seated on them.
- The pool water inlet and outlet are connected to the filter outlet with the PVC union Ø50.
- The electrical line is run in the model's cable cross-section and connected to a separate circuit breaker in the panel.
- The condensate drain kit is fitted and the flow rate is checked at first start-up.

Maintenance checkpoints
The routine work on a heat pump is cleaning leaves and dust from the air intake coil. If the unit is not used in the winter months, the water line is drained and the winter cover supplied with the product is fitted. At the start of the season, the condensate drain, union seals and electrical connections are checked. The optional heat pump cleaning kit is used to clean the coil.

- The space around the unit is kept clear of plants and objects.

The output is chosen according to the pool volume, the climate and whether the pool is covered. With the air at 26°C, the Z400iQ series delivers 9.8 kW, 12.5 kW, 15.6 kW, 18.6 kW and 22 kW. When the air falls to 15°C, the same models deliver between 7.9 kW and 17.5 kW; in a cooler region, the next model up is chosen.

Z400iQ uses ON-OFF technology and offers Standard or Silent mode with its two-speed fan. Zodiac Z550iQ adjusts its output to demand with full inverter technology, and with the air at 26°C its COP reaches up to 12. Z400iQ operates down to -12°C and Z550iQ down to -15°C. The maximum output of Z400iQ is 22 kW, and that of Z550iQ is 20 kW.

With the air at 26°C, Z400iQ draws between 1.7 kW and 4.2 kW of electrical power depending on the model. Under these conditions the COP is between 5.2 and 5.9; for every 1 kW of electricity drawn, approximately 5 kW of heat is transferred to the pool. When the air falls to 15°C, the COP drops to between 4.2 and 4.9.

The sound pressure of Z400iQ at 10 m is between 33 and 37 dBA in Standard mode and between 30 and 35 dBA in Silent mode. Silent mode is selected at night and in gardens close to neighbours. The unit is not installed below a window or close to the neighbour's boundary; it is positioned so that the fan outlet does not face the neighbouring garden.

No. Z400iQ is a heat pump installed outdoors; as it takes heat from the outside air, it needs free air circulation around it. For projects that require an enclosed plant room, Zodiac Z550iQ, which is suitable for indoor installation, is chosen. For a narrow garden corner, Zodiac Z350iQ with a 500 x 500 mm base is considered.

Z400iQ dimensions fall into two groups. MD4, MD5 and TD7 measure 1030 x 872 x 449 mm, and TD8 and TD9 measure 1145 x 1018 x 480 mm. The weight is 70 kg for MD4 and 110 kg for TD9. The dimensions are given as length, height and depth; the 500 x 883 x 500 mm casing of Z350iQ fits into a narrower space.
