Installation and compatible equipment
The Zodiac RE 4600 iQ Robotic Pool Cleaner is not connected to the pool pipework; the control unit is plugged into a socket with residual current protection. The control unit stands at a dry point away from the pool edge. The 18 m cable reaches the farthest corner of a 12 x 6 m pool. The package includes a caddy, the control unit and the 150 / 60 µm two-stage filter.
- The control unit is placed near a dry socket with residual current protection.
- The cable is uncoiled straight, and the robot is held in the water until the air has escaped.
- The iAquaLink app is installed and the robot is paired.
- A cycle is selected from the app or the control unit and started.
- At the end of the cycle the robot is brought to the waterline with the lift system.

Maintenance checkpoints
The filter canister opens from the top; the 150 µm coarse layer is emptied of leaves and sand, and the 60 µm fine layer is rinsed with pressurised water. Over time the cable coils and throws the robot off course; every few weeks it is uncoiled on flat ground. The brushes and tracks are checked for wear at the start of the season. In winter the robot is stored in the shade.
- The two filter layers are cleaned separately after each cycle.
- The cable is uncoiled every few weeks to remove coils.
- The robot is taken out of the water when the cycle ends and not left in the pool.
- It is stored on its caddy in a shaded, dry place.

Cycle selection is also done from the phone. RE 4400 iQ Voyager from the same family works with the app but does not offer the remote control function.

The lift system brings the robot to the waterline at the end of the cycle and makes it easier to take out of the water. The Zodiac RE 4600 iQ Robotic Pool Cleaner comes with this system. With a full filter canister the robot becomes heavier. As the robot is lifted by its handle at the waterline, it is not pulled by the cable, and the cable is protected.

The difference is the lift system and the remote steering from the app on RE 4600 iQ. Both models work in pools up to 12 x 6 m with an 18 m cable and use a 150 / 60 µm two-stage filter. If lift and steering are not needed, RE 4400 iQ Voyager is chosen with the same cleaning values.

If no time limit and no waiting for a charge are wanted, the corded RE 4600 iQ is chosen. A corded robot is powered from a socket, so the cycle is not shortened by a battery. If cable tangling is to be avoided, the cordless RF 5600 iQ Freerider, which comes with a remote control and lift system for the same 12 x 6 m pool, is considered. RF 5600 iQ Freerider runs for 150 minutes on one charge.

The Zodiac RE 4600 iQ Robotic Pool Cleaner works in ceramic tile, liner, polyester, PVC and reinforced concrete pools. It suits rectangular, oval and freeform pools. The tracked body climbs the walls and also cleans the waterline. If the pool is larger than 12 x 6 m, a robot with a longer cable is chosen.

As the robot turns in the pool, the cable twists around its own axis and coils over time. The 18 m cable of the Zodiac RE 4600 iQ Robotic Pool Cleaner is uncoiled on flat ground every few weeks and left in the sun. A coiled cable throws the robot off course. The cable is not extended by joining, and the robot is not run if the cable is crushed or cut.

The RE 4600 iQ filter canister holds 4 litres and the filtration area is 1066 cm². The canister is 150 / 60 µm two-stage: the coarse layer holds leaves and sand, the fine layer holds dust. The robot works in pools up to 12 x 6 m with an 18 m cable and weighs 8 kg.
