Active Glass Media is a glass-based filter media placed in the bed of sand filters instead of sand. Çilek Havuz supplies Active Glass through quotes and as part of its projects. The active glass grades come in grain sizes of 0.5-1.0, 1.0-3.0 and 3.0-7.0 mm, in 25 kg bags. Anthracite, zeolite, silex sand, gravel and Crystal Clear glass media in 15 kg bags are also selected on the same page.

Users and applications
Active glass media is used in the bed of a sand filter in place of sand. Grade 1, with a grain size of 0.5-1.0 mm, is the finest grade, and Grade 3, at 3.0-7.0 mm, the coarsest. The bed is filled with the media type and grade the filter requires. Anthracite, zeolite, silex sand and gravel are the other media used in the same bed; Crystal Clear glass media comes in 15 kg bags.

Installation and compatible equipment
The media is filled from the bags into the emptied filter body. The required quantity and grain size are read from the values of the filter model. The Cantabric Pool Sand Filter and the Zodiac MS Sand Filter are among the filters that work with these media. As bag weight is 15, 25 or 30 kg depending on the grade, the number of bags is calculated from the total quantity.
- The filter is emptied and the old bed is removed.
- The media type, grade and quantity required by the filter model are determined.
- The bags are opened and the media is filled into the filter body.
- The filter is closed and put into service.

Maintenance checkpoints
The media bed works inside the filter and has no separate maintenance part. A backwash is carried out when filter pressure rises. The bed level is checked visually when the filter is opened. Unused bags are stored closed in a dry place; media from an opened bag is used before it takes on moisture.

+90 216 475 39 37The grade is chosen by the diameter of the filter. In filters smaller than Ø900 mm, 0.8 of the bed volume is Grade 1 and 0.2 is Grade 3; Grade 2 is not used. In filters above Ø900 mm, the shares are 0.6, 0.2 and 0.2. The grain size is 0.5-1.0 mm for Grade 1, 1.0-3.0 mm for Grade 2 and 3.0-7.0 mm for Grade 3.

The difference lies in the material. Active glass is a glass-based media; zeolite is a separate media type and is offered in three grain sizes: 0.5-1.0, 1.0-2.0 and 2.0-5.0 mm. The 0.5-1.0 mm zeolite grade comes in 25 kg bags, the other two in 30 kg bags. All three active glass grades come in 25 kg bags.

Crystal Clear glass media comes in a 15 kg bag with a package size of 45 x 65 cm. The number of bags is calculated from the total media quantity the filter requires.

They are not the same model; both are glass-based but they are separate types. Crystal Clear is entirely pure glass crystal and comes in grain sizes of 0.7-1.3 and 1.0-3.0 mm, in 15 kg bags. It can be used with the Zodiac MS Sand Filter. Active glass is offered in three grades between 0.5 and 7.0 mm, in 25 kg bags.

Yes; active glass media is a bed material placed in a sand filter in place of sand. Silex sand has a grain size of 0.4-0.8 mm and comes in 25 kg bags, while active glass Grade 1 is 0.5-1.0 mm. The bed of sand filters such as the Cantabric Pool Sand Filter is filled with these media. The filter model determines which media is used.

The quantity depends on the filter model; the bed quantity of each filter is stated in its own technical values. For Crystal Clear, the total weight in the filter is taken as 10 percent less than the equivalent sand weight. The number of bags is found by dividing the total quantity by the bag weight: an active glass bag is 25 kg, a Crystal Clear bag 15 kg.

Anthracite has a grain size of 0.8-1.6 mm and silex sand 0.4-0.8 mm, and both come in 25 kg bags. Gravel comes in two sizes, 1-2 and 3-5 mm, also in 25 kg bags. These three media are selected on the same page as the active glass grades. The grain size used in the bed depends on the filter model.
