Pools, hammams and spas in Saudi Arabia

Çilek Havuz designs pools, Turkish hammams, saunas, steam rooms and complete spas for Saudi villas and hotels. We make every part in our workshop in Turkey, ship it by container to Jeddah or Dammam and send our own installers to fit it with your local contractor. Riyadh, Jeddah and the Eastern Province are our focus; completed work so far is in Turkey.

From plot plan to first swim in Saudi Arabia

Each step is timed to the contractor, the sailing to Jeddah or Dammam and the cooler site months.

  1. Villa plot with pool and spa pool seen from the air, Silivri (Turkey)

    Brief and plans

Share the plot plan, villa drawings and photos. You get a written scope and a short list of decisions.

  2. Villa with a glazed pool house and garden pool from above, Çekmeköy (Turkey)

    Coordination with the main contractor

Pool shell, hot rooms and plant room are drawn with the company that holds the contract.

  3. Gilded hammam tap and carved marble basin, Istanbul (Turkey)

    Production in Turkey

In our workshop the marble is cut and numbered while pumps, chillers and steam generators run on the test bench.

  4. Pool pipework and valves assembled before handover, Istanbul (Turkey)

    Container to Jeddah or Dammam

Crates travel in fitting order with certificates and packing lists ready for customs.

  5. Installer setting valves in a villa pool plant room

    Installation and training

The crew fits, fills and starts every system, then shows the household or hotel team how to run it.

Six numbers behind a Saudi pool or spa

Climate records and normal operating ranges we look at on every Saudi brief. Prices are not among them.

Riyadh, July high

43°C

How hot is Riyadh in summer?

Around 43 °C on an average July afternoon, which is why cooling, shade and a cooled plant room come first.

Villa pool, hammam and spa planning for Saudi homes and hotels

A Saudi brief usually joins a pool, a hammam and a rest area around one family or one hotel. These six topics decide the scope before any drawing is fixed.

Written by Ali SAVAŞ

Pool cooling and shade

Riyadh's July afternoons average about 43 °C, and an unshaded pool quickly climbs past 32 °C.

  • We size a chiller or reversible heat pump to pull the water back down, and in the short cool season the same machine adds a little warmth.
  • Fixed shade and a night cover do as much as the machine: they cut evaporation, cooling demand and chemical use at once.
  • The calculation starts from water area, direct sun hours and how many people swim.

Choosing between options for a Saudi villa or hotel

Our usual advice for a Saudi villa: a shaded overflow pool on a chiller, a hammam suite with a steam room, one plant room for both. Where another choice wins, the table says why.

ChoiceFirst optionSecond optionWhen each fits
Pool settingCovered pool hallOpen pool with screensCovered hall where privacy and dust matter most; open pool with screens where the garden is private already
Pool edgeOverflow edgeSkimmer poolOverflow where the water line is seen from the terrace; skimmer for a family pool on a budget
Hot roomsHammam and steam roomSteam room and saunaHammam where the family wants the ritual and has the floor area; steam and sauna in a compact suite
SuitesTwo suitesOne suiteTwo suites for hotels and large villas; one suite with a private entrance for most homes
Water treatmentSalt systemChlorine dosingSalt for gentle, steady dosing; chlorine where brass and steel sit close to the pool

Our finished work, all in Turkey

No Saudi project is finished yet, and we would rather say so than imply otherwise. These hotels, a municipal hammam and private villas in Turkey show the standard our crew would bring.

Where we work in Saudi Arabia

Riyadh, the capital, leads on villas and compounds; Jeddah and the Eastern Province add hotels and humid coastal sites.

  1. RiyadhCapital

The capital: private villas, istirahas, compounds and hotel towers. Dry heat and strong air-conditioning shape every pool and hammam.

  2. Jeddah

Red Sea port city of hotels and seafront villas. Humid air puts ventilation and condensation control first.

  3. Dammam and Al Khobar

Eastern Province: villas, compounds and hotels on the Gulf coast, with salt air and humid summers.

// 08 · Common mistakes

Mistakes we see on Saudi pools and spas

Most of them come from treating a Saudi site like a mild European one. These five cost the most to put right.

Villa pool in full sun with no shade, Istanbul (Turkey)
  1. Open pool, no cooling planned

The chiller is postponed to save money at the start. By June the water is above 32 °C, algae appears and nobody swims. Put shade, cover and cooling in the first drawings.

  2. Privacy added after the build

Screens are added once the pool is finished, and they block the wind path and the plant room door. Plan the view, the access and the staff route together.

  3. Steam room beside the majlis

The steam room shares a wall with an air-conditioned majlis and nobody draws a vapour barrier. That wall sweats and the paint lifts within a season.

  4. Feed water not tested

The steam generator runs on untreated water and scales within months. A water test and a softener cost far less than a new heating element.

  5. Pump room on a sunlit wall

Pumps and control panels are left on a west wall with no ventilation. Boards overheat by the second summer; a shaded, ventilated room with a drain avoids it.

// 09 · Cost

Cost drivers for a Saudi pool, hammam or spa

The same villa can cost very differently depending on cooling, suites and who builds what. We quote from drawings only, so this page carries no prices.

FactorWhat it changes
Pool size, edge and coverOverflow edges, a covered hall and a larger balance tank add concrete and plant.
Cooling loadMore sun and water surface mean a larger chiller; shade and a night cover reduce it.
Number of suites and hot roomsSeparate men's and women's suites double some rooms and share the plant.
Marble grade and finishesPlatform size, basin carving and mosaic choice change the stonework time.
Water treatmentHard or saline feed water calls for softeners and generator protection.
Contractor scopeThe more civil and licensed work the local partner holds, the fewer lines we carry.

Documents and training at handover

  1. As-built drawings of the pool, hot rooms and plant.
  2. Pressure test and commissioning sheets, signed on site.
  3. Hands-on training for the household or hotel team.
  4. A yearly service calendar for pool, hammam, steam room and sauna.
  5. Wear parts list sized for a stock in Riyadh, Jeddah or Dammam.
  6. Conformity certificates and manuals for every device.

Seven: pools, Turkish hammams, saunas, steam rooms, salt and snow rooms, spa areas and hydromassage pools. They can be ordered alone or as one spa on a shared plant room.

Çilek Havuz Technical Team

No, not yet, and every page of ours says so. What we can show is finished work in Turkey, from hotel spas to a municipal hammam, built by the team that would travel to your site.

Çilek Havuz Technical Team

A crew we send from Turkey fits and commissions everything. The contractor keeps the civil works, the power supply and any trade that needs a Saudi licence.

Çilek Havuz Technical Team

Yes. Screen walls, a covered pool hall or a courtyard layout keep the view closed, and the plant room is placed so staff reach it without crossing the family area.

Çilek Havuz Technical Team

For swimming between May and October, yes. Water in an open pool climbs above 32 °C; a chiller pulls it back, and shade over the water cuts how hard the chiller works.

Çilek Havuz Technical Team

Jeddah for the west and the Red Sea coast, Dammam for Riyadh and the Eastern Province. Crates are packed in the order of installation.

Çilek Havuz Technical Team

No fixed figure is honest before we see the plans. The price moves with pool size and edge, the chiller, the marble, the number of suites and what the contractor already covers.

Çilek Havuz Technical Team

Yes. We join under the hotel's main contract, deliver the spa and pool package and schedule our crew around the main contractor's programme.
