No. It runs at 35 to 45 °C in moist air, with warmth from a heated marble slab: much softer than a sauna.

Why does a steam room in a tower need its own duct?
It runs near saturation. In a chilled tower the moisture must leave through a dedicated extract, behind a vapour barrier and a gasketed door.

Rooftop pools, villa spas and hotel wellness in the Emirates
In Dubai and Abu Dhabi the pool is often on a roof, a podium or a tower terrace, and the spa sits inside a fitted-out floor. These six topics decide what can be built and how.

Rooftop and podium pools: load and waterproofing
Every cubic metre of pool water weighs about a tonne, before finishes, people and the balance tank are added.
- The building's structural engineer confirms what the slab can carry, and the pool depth, the overflow channel and the tank are drawn to that limit.
- Waterproofing runs as a continuous system under the shell and up the walls, and it is tested with water before any tile goes on.
- Plant rooms on a roof need access for lifting pumps in and out.
Chilled water in summer
In July Dubai averages about 41 °C, and a pool on a sunny roof warms quickly.
- A chiller or a reversible heat pump holds the water at a fresh level, and the same unit can warm it a little in winter.
- Shade, wind screens and a cover at night reduce evaporation and the cooling load.
- The plant is sized from the water surface, the sun hours and the number of swimmers, not from the pool volume alone.
Building approvals and fit-out
In towers and gated communities the building management or the developer usually approves pool and spa drawings before work starts.
- Our drawings show loads, waterproofing, drainage, ventilation and power, so the fit-out contractor can file them.
- The works contract sits with a licensed local contractor, and our design, supply and installation scope is written into it.
- Equipment ships with conformity certificates for the Emirates market.
Hammam and steam room in an apartment or villa
A Turkish hammam fits a villa or a large apartment when the floor can take the marble platform and there is a route for the steam extract to outside.
- A steam room needs less space and suits a master suite.
- Both sit inside chilled buildings, so each hot room gets its own insulation, vapour barrier, sealed door and extract.
- The marble is cut and numbered in Turkey to your room, so fitting on site is quick and quiet.
Hotel spas and wellness floors
Hotels in the Emirates plan the spa as a guest route: reception, changing, heat, rest, treatment and back.
- The pool, hammam, steam room, sauna, salt room and hydromassage pool are drawn together so one plant room serves them.
- Men's and women's areas are split early where the operator asks for it.
- We deliver the wet areas as one package inside the fit-out or main contract.
Salt air, sand and maintenance
On the coast, salt air attacks metal fixings and plant, so stainless grades and coatings are chosen for the sea front.
- Sand and dust load the filters, and an overflow edge skims the surface all day.
- At handover we train the building or hotel staff on water balance, chiller settings and steam generator descaling, and list the wear parts to hold in stock in Dubai or Abu Dhabi.

Errors we see on UAE pools and spas
Rooftops and chilled towers punish shortcuts. These five are the expensive ones.
Depth fixed before the load check
The pool is drawn to the client's wish and the slab is checked later. The design then shrinks on site. Start from the structural limit.
Waterproofing not flood-tested
Tiles go on before the membrane is tested. A leak shows up in the flat below, and the whole finish comes off. Test with water first.
No lifting route to the roof plant
Pumps and chillers are placed where nobody can take them out. Replacing one needs a crane. Plan access with the plant room.
Steam room against a chilled wall
The hot room shares a wall with an air-conditioned bedroom and no vapour barrier. The cold side sweats and mould follows.
Pool left open in summer
No shade, no cover, no chiller. Water passes 32 °C, evaporation is heavy and chemicals climb. Plan all three from day one.

Cost drivers for UAE pools and spas
Structure, approvals and chilling set the budget more than the water area does. Quotes follow drawings, so no numbers appear here.
