The Vesubio (Volcano) Commercial Sand Filter is a pool filter fitted to the filtration line of commercial pools. Çilek Havuz supplies Vesubio · Volcano through quotes and as part of its projects. It works with sand or glass media. Its six sizes cover body diameters of Ø450-1200 mm and a flow range of 8-56 m³/h. The Ø450-900 mm models come with a side-mounted multiport valve; the Ø1050 and Ø1200 mm models are supplied without a valve. The maximum operating pressure is 2.5 bar.

Users and applications
Vesubio is chosen as the filter that cleans the water of commercial pools by passing it through sand or glass media. The size is set by the flow required by the filtration line: Ø450 mm delivers 8 m³/h and Ø1200 mm 56 m³/h. The filtration velocity is 50 m³/h/m². As the smaller sizes come with a valve, no separate valve needs to be supplied.

// 03 · Installation and compatibility
Installation and compatible equipment
Vesubio is fitted between the pool pump and the pool return line. The connection diameter is 50 mm on the Ø450 and Ø600 mm sizes, 63 mm on the Ø750 and Ø900 mm sizes, 75 mm on the Ø1050 mm size and 90 mm on the Ø1200 mm size. As the Ø1050 and Ø1200 mm models come without a valve, the Multiport Valve is connected separately.
- The filter is placed on a level, load-bearing surface in the plant room.
- The pump line and the pool return line are connected to the valve or the body inlet according to the connection diameter of the size.
- The body is filled with the chosen media through the Ø210 mm threaded lid.
- On sizes without a valve, the Multiport Valve is installed and the lid is closed before the system is started.
- The system is started and the line pressure is kept below the 2.5 bar limit.

Maintenance checkpoints
Routine work consists of keeping the line pressure below the limit. The maximum operating pressure is 2.5 bar, and the line is kept below this value. The lid is a Ø210 mm threaded type; when it is opened, the thread is checked for cleanliness. The media is renewed when it is exhausted or fouled; for glass media, see the Active Glass Media option.
- Operating pressure is kept below the 2.5 bar limit.
- The filter is taken out of service before the threaded lid is opened.
- The valve connections are checked for leaks.
- The quantity and condition of the media are checked when the lid is opened.

No, these two sizes are sold without a valve, as a bare body. On the Vesubio Ø450-900 mm models, a side-mounted multiport valve is included in the package. The Ø1050 mm body has a 75 mm connection and the Ø1200 mm body a 90 mm connection. The valve is chosen separately from the Multiport Valve page.

The filter works with sand or glass media. Sand capacity is 60 kg on the Ø450 mm size and 1000 kg on the Ø1200 mm size. Class 1 glass media requires 50-775 kg. If glass media is preferred, the Active Glass Media product is used. Flow values are given for a filtration velocity of 50 m³/h/m²; the media is filled through the lid.

All Vesubio sizes have a maximum operating pressure of 2.5 bar. If a line exceeds this value, a 4 bar class is needed. 4 bar options are available in the Praga Filament-Wound Filter family and in the Berlin Ø900 mm model. The Vesubio body is made of isophthalic resin and fibreglass.

The difference lies in size range, pressure options and body construction. Vesubio starts at Ø450 mm and all its sizes are rated at 2.5 bar; its body is made by spray-up moulding. Berlin starts at Ø500 and Ivory at Ø600 mm, and both are reinforced by filament winding. Berlin has a 4 bar model for Ø900 mm, and Ivory is ivory coloured.
