Installation and compatible equipment
The unit is installed in the open air on a level base where the air inlet and outlet are not obstructed. The water line is connected after the filter and before chemical dosing, with by-pass valves; the valves divert part of the flow to the unit. Electricity is run from the panel on a separately fused line. The cable section and fuse rating are chosen according to the model details provided with the quotation.

Maintenance checkpoints
At the start of the season, the fan grille and the coil at the rear are cleaned of leaves and dust. It is checked that the condensate collecting under the unit can drain away. The pool water chemistry is kept in balance, because unbalanced water damages the heat exchanger. At the end of the season the water connections are drained and the unit is kept switched off to protect it against frost.

The Eco Elyo series operates until the outdoor air drops to -5 °C. A buyer who wants to choose a model from a table of values uses the Eco Elyo page.

The required output is determined by the pool volume, cover use and the months the pool stays open. For Eco Elyo Pro, the output is selected at the quotation stage together with the pool volume. For comparison, output in the AstralPool Eco Elyo series is between 13 and 31 kW. The models in this series are for pools of up to 120 m³.

A heat pump can be added to an existing pool later without touching the pool structure. Eco Elyo Pro is connected between the filter outlet and the pool return line with by-pass valves. What is needed is a level base, a separately fused supply line from the panel and by-pass valves such as the PVC Pool Ball Valve (Two-Way).

The heat pump draws heat from the outdoor air with a fan and transfers it to the pool water through a heat exchanger. The water passes through the unit by means of the filter pump and returns to the pool warmed. On Eco Elyo Pro, the target temperature is set on the digital display at the front. Heating takes place while the filter pump is running, so filtration hours are planned according to the heating demand.

The efficiency of a heat pump falls as the outdoor air gets colder. Winter use of Eco Elyo Pro is clarified at the quotation stage according to the months the pool stays open. For a pool that needs year-round heating, AstralPool ProElyo Touch Heat Pump is considered. This series also operates when the outdoor air drops to -20 °C and is used in the winter months.

A heated pool loses most of its heat from the water surface, mainly at night. To reduce this loss, a pool cover is used together with the heat pump. The 400 Micron Bubble Solar Pool Cover covers the surface and allows the unit to run less to maintain the target temperature. The cover is kept closed during the hours the pool is not in use.
