Zodiac Z550iQ is a full inverter pool heat pump that adjusts its output to the needs of the pool. Çilek Havuz supplies Z550iQ through quotes and as part of its projects. With the air at 26°C, the four models operate between 3.6 kW and 20 kW, and the COP reaches up to 12. The unit heats down to -15°C outside air; MD4, MD5 and MD8 are single-phase and TD8 is three-phase. It has a built-in WiFi connection.

Users and applications
Zodiac Z550iQ is chosen for villa and residential complex pools where the water is to be kept warm from spring into winter or all year. As the inverter compressor runs at reduced output, electricity consumption falls while the temperature is held steady. The unit is installed outdoors or in a plant room; thanks to its vertical air discharge, it takes up little space in a narrow garden.

Installation and compatible equipment
Z550iQ is connected to the filtration return line after the filter and heats while the filtration pump is running. For plant room installation, the optional plant room installation kit is used and sufficient air intake to the room is provided. As the current of the MD8 model rises to 17.8 A, a 3 x 6 mm² cable is used; for the other models the cross-section is 3 x 2.5 or 5 x 2.5 mm².
- The installation location is determined outdoors or in the plant room.
- The unit is seated on a solid base with anti-vibration mounts.
- The water inlet and outlet are connected to the filter outlet with the PVC union Ø50.
- The electrical line is run in the model's cable cross-section and connected to a separate circuit breaker.
- The WiFi connection is set up and the target temperature is entered in the Fluidra Pool app.

Maintenance checkpoints
The routine work on Z550iQ is cleaning dust and leaves from the air intake coil. On a unit running in winter, ice on the evaporator is melted by automatic defrost; the drain line for condensate and defrost water is kept clear. During periods of non-use, the water line is drained and the winter cover supplied with the product is fitted. The optional heat pump cleaning kit is used to clean the coil.

The saving comes from the inverter compressor reducing its output to match demand; the COP value of 12 is seen at low output. Seasonal efficiency is SCOP 8.1 on MD4 and MD5 and SCOP 7 on MD8 and TD8.

Z550iQ also works in winter: it heats down to -15°C outside air and is used all year. In cold weather, ice that forms on the evaporator is melted by automatic defrost. With the air at 15°C, the MD4 model delivers up to 9.5 kW, and the MD8 and TD8 models up to 15 kW. In winter use, a pool cover reduces heat loss.

Yes, Z550iQ is the Zodiac heat pump that is suitable for indoor installation. For plant room installation, the optional plant room installation kit is used and sufficient air intake to the room is provided. The optional Z550iQ condensate tray is added for condensate, and the water from the tray is routed to a drain.

Both models use full inverter technology. Z550iQ runs all year down to -15°C, can be installed in a plant room and becomes as quiet as 25 dBA at 10 m. Zodiac Z350iQ is chosen for extending the season down to -7°C, is single-phase only and fits into a narrow space with its 500 x 500 mm base.

The recommended filtration flow rate is 4 m³/h for MD4, 5 m³/h for MD5 and 6 m³/h for MD8 and TD8. The heat pump is connected to the return line after the filter. When the flow rate stays below these values, heat transfer falls. The filtration pump is timed to run throughout the heating period.

Yes. Z550iQ comes with a built-in WiFi connection and is managed from a phone with the Fluidra Pool app. The unit can be switched on and off remotely and the target temperature set from the app. As the connection is built in, the iQBridge RS Pool Automation Gateway is not needed; the gateway is used for heat pumps without WiFi.

Z550iQ MD4 draws a maximum of 9 A and MD5 a maximum of 11 A; both are supplied at 220 - 240 V single-phase. A 3 x 2.5 mm² cable is recommended for both models. MD8 draws 17.8 A and requires 3 x 6 mm²; the three-phase TD8 draws 6.1 A. The line is run as a separate supply from the panel.
