Zodiac RE/U is an electric pool heater fitted in-line on the filtration line to heat the water of large pools. Çilek Havuz supplies RE-U through quotes and as part of its projects. Its titanium heating element works in two stages; the digital thermostat holds the water to an accuracy of ± 0.5 °C. The four models deliver 12 to 18 kW: RE/U 12M and 15M are supplied with single-phase power, RE/U 15T and 18T with three-phase power. The flow rate range is 5 - 22 m³/h.

Users and applications
The range is offered for heating the water directly with electricity in pools of 195 m³ and above. The electrical infrastructure of the building determines the model choice first. RE/U 12M or 15M is chosen for a single-phase supply, RE/U 15T or 18T for a three-phase supply. As the single-phase models draw 53 A and 66 A, panel capacity is checked in advance. Two-stage power management brings one or two stages into operation according to the heat required.

// 03 · Installation and compatibility
Installation and compatible equipment
The heater is fitted in-line on the filtration line after the filter and connected with PVC Ø63 outer or Ø50 inner diameter; the flow direction does not matter. The supply line is run according to the current of the model: a 3 x 16 mm² cable is recommended for RE/U 12M and 15M, and a 5 x 6 mm² cable for RE/U 15T and 18T. The line is protected in the panel by a separate fuse and residual current device.
- The filtration pump is stopped and the heater fuse in the panel is switched off.
- The heater is placed on the section of line after the filter, regardless of flow direction.
- The PVC Ø63 or Ø50 fittings are solvent welded and tightened.
- The supply cable is connected according to the cable size of the model, and the earthing is checked.
- With the pump running, the heater is switched on and the thermostat is set to the desired temperature.
// 04 · Maintenance
Maintenance checkpoints
The heater stays in operation only while the filtration pump is running and water flows in the line. At the start of the season, the fittings are checked for leaks and the cable connections for loosening. The pH and chlorine values of the pool water are kept balanced; unbalanced water increases scale build-up on the titanium element. In preparation for winter, the line is drained and the heater is protected against frost.

If the home panel cannot carry this current, the three-phase RE/U 15T or RE/U 18T is chosen; these models draw 22 A and 26 A.

In the RE/U family, the output is chosen between 12 and 18 kW, and the range is offered for pools of 195 m³ and above. The output is determined by the pool volume, the pool cover and the desired water temperature; a higher output is chosen for an uncovered pool exposed to wind. For a smaller pool, Zodiac Red Line or Zodiac RE/L in the 3 - 12 kW range is considered.

Two-stage output means that RE/U brings one or two heating stages into operation according to the heat required. RE/U 12M works with 6 + 6 kW stages, RE/U 15M with 6 + 9 kW and RE/U 18T with 9 + 9 kW. Full power is drawn only when both stages run together. Stage management is carried out automatically through the digital thermostat.

Zodiac RE/U delivers 12 - 18 kW for large pools, and Zodiac Red Line 3 - 12 kW for pools under 95 m³. RE/U carries two-stage power management and works with a flow rate of 5 - 22 m³/h. The 3, 6 and 9 kW models of Red Line are connected on site as single-phase or three-phase; its flow rate range is 5 - 30 m³/h.

An electric pool heater is connected after the filter, on the line returning to the pool. RE/U is fitted in-line, connected with PVC Ø63 outer or Ø50 inner diameter, and the flow direction does not matter. A chlorine dosing unit or salt chlorinator stays after the heater. The heater operates only while the filtration pump is running and water flows in the line.

The temperature is set with the digital thermostat and LCD display on RE/U. The thermostat holds the water to an accuracy of ± 0.5 °C, and the timer determines the hours when heating runs. When the flow sensor detects that no water is flowing in the line, the heater does not operate. The heating hours are therefore set to coincide with the operating hours of the filtration pump.

Both are supplied with single-phase power; the difference is in output and stages. RE/U 12M delivers 12 kW, works with 6 + 6 kW stages and draws a maximum of 53 A. RE/U 15M delivers 15 kW, works with 6 + 9 kW stages and draws 66 A. A 3 x 16 mm² cable is recommended for both.
