Aster Sand Filter, Side-Mount Sand Filter.
Aster is a sand filter that passes pool water through a sand bed, supplied with a side-mounted multiport valve. Çilek Havuz supplies Aster through quotes and as part of its projects. Its six models range from Ø350 to 900 mm in diameter, 5 to 30 m³/h in flow rate and 40 to 240 m³ in pool volume. The body is made of a polypropylene base, isophthalic resin and fibreglass, in a lead grey colour. At Ø900 mm, there are two options: with valve and without valve.

Users and applications
Aster is chosen for filtration lines in which pool water is filtered through a sand bed. The model is set by the pool volume and the flow rate of the pump: Ø350 mm is for pools of up to 40 m³ and Ø900 mm for pools of up to 240 m³. As the valve sits at the side of the filter, it is operated from the side of the body.

Installation and compatible equipment
Aster is installed between the pump discharge line and the return line to the pool. The lines are connected to the ports of the valve at the side of the filter. The body is first filled with sand or glass media. On the Ø900 model without valve, the valve is chosen separately; as the connection is 2½", the 2½" model is selected from the Multiport Valve product.
- The filter is placed on a level, dry floor.
- The body is filled with the quantity of sand or glass media specified for the model.
- The pump line and the pool return line are connected to the valve ports.
- The pressure gauge and valve positions are checked, and the filter is put into service in the filter position.
// 04 · Maintenance
Maintenance checkpoints
Maintenance of Aster is based on monitoring filter pressure and using the valve in the correct position. If the pressure on the gauge rises, the bed is washed in the backwash position of the valve and the process is completed with the rinse position. The bed is renewed when it loses its filtering capacity. The body and valve connections are checked externally for leaks.
- The pressure gauge reading is monitored; a marked rise indicates that a backwash is needed.
- The valve position is changed only after the pump has been stopped.
- Sand or glass media is renewed when filtration declines.
- The body and valve connections are checked for leaks.

+90 216 475 39 37The diameter is chosen by the pool volume and the pump flow rate. Ø350 mm is for 5 m³/h and 40 m³, Ø450 mm for 8 m³/h and 64 m³, Ø600 mm for 14 m³/h and 112 m³, Ø750 mm for 21 m³/h and 168 m³, and Ø900 mm for 30 m³/h and 240 m³. The volume values are based on 8 hours of filtration.

The sand quantity ranges from 50 to 500 kg depending on the diameter. The Ø350 mm model takes 50 kg, the Ø450 mm model 70 kg, the Ø600 mm model 125 kg, the Ø750 mm model 290 kg, and both Ø900 mm models 500 kg of sand. These quantities are the fill specification of each model.

Aster also works with active glass media instead of sand. The Grade 1 fill is 50 kg on the Ø350 and Ø450 mm models, 100 kg on the Ø600 mm model, 175 kg on the Ø750 mm model and 325 kg on the Ø900 mm models. On the Ø750 and Ø900 mm models, 50 and 75 kg of Grade 3 is also added. The grades are found under the Active Glass Media product.

On the five models with valve, the side-mounted multiport valve is supplied with the filter and is not bought separately. The Ø900 mm model without valve has no valve; as its connection is 2½", the 2½" model is chosen from the Multiport Valve product. The valve has six positions, and backwash and rinse are among them.

Height ranges from 780 to 1050 mm depending on the model. The Ø350 mm model is 780 mm and 18 kg, the Ø600 mm model 850 mm and 28 kg, and the Ø900 mm model with valve 1050 mm and 55 kg. The Ø900 mm model without valve weighs 53 kg. The weight of the filling is calculated separately.

The difference lies in the diameter range and sand capacity. Aster offers six models from Ø350 to 900 mm, Cantabric five models from Ø400 to 900 mm. The largest Aster model takes 500 kg of sand, the largest Cantabric 550 kg. For a small pool, the Aster Ø350 mm model gives the lowest flow rate at 5 m³/h.

The maximum operating pressure is 2.5 kg/cm². The filtration velocity is 50 m³/h/m² and is the same on all models. The body is made of a polypropylene base, isophthalic resin and fibreglass. The pump is chosen to stay within these limits. The pump flow rate should not exceed the flow rate of the selected model, which ranges from 5 to 30 m³/h. The pressure rise is monitored on the gauge.
