Amperometric Electrode and Calibration Solution is a group of measurement consumables that keeps free chlorine, pH and ORP measurement running on control panels. Çilek Havuz supplies Amperometric Electrode through quotes and as part of its projects. The group includes a free chlorine electrode, ECC1 electrolyte gel, CL.01.02 membrane, and pH and ORP electrodes. For calibration, pH 7.0 green, pH 4.0 red and 470 mV solutions are supplied in 30 mL bottles.

Users and applications
Amperometric Electrode and Calibration Solution is intended for facilities using a control panel that measures chlorine and pH automatically. Measuring electrodes age over time and the reading drifts. A drifting reading leads the panel to dose incorrectly. The replacement part is chosen by the value the panel measures: free chlorine, pH or ORP.

Installation and compatible equipment
The electrode is fitted in the measuring line of the control panel and its cable is connected to the corresponding input on the panel. The manufacturer's instructions for the panel are read before the replacement. Once the new electrode is fitted, calibration is carried out from the panel menu. The pH electrode is calibrated at two points: first pH 7.0, then pH 4.0. The ORP electrode is checked with the 470 mV solution.
- The value measured by the panel is identified and the part is chosen.
- The old electrode is removed and its cable is disconnected.
- On the free chlorine electrode, the membrane and ECC1 gel are renewed and the electrode is fitted.
- The pH electrode is calibrated with pH 7.0 and pH 4.0, the ORP electrode with 470 mV.
- The readings are compared with a manual water test.
// 04 · Maintenance
Maintenance checkpoints
Measuring electrodes need regular calibration for the panel to dose correctly. Calibration is repeated at the start of the season and whenever the reading departs from a manual test. On the free chlorine electrode, the membrane and ECC1 gel are changed periodically. The electrode tip is not left to dry out. Calibration solution is not poured back into the bottle after use.
- The electrode tip is rinsed with clean water before calibration.
- Used solution is not poured back into the bottle and the cap is closed straight away.
- If the membrane is scratched or dirty, the CL.01.02 membrane is renewed.
- During a long shutdown, the electrode tip is kept moist and not left dry.

Calibration is started from the control panel menu. The electrode tip is rinsed with clean water between the two measurements so the solutions do not mix.

The free chlorine electrode measures the free chlorine in the water directly in ppm. The ORP electrode measures the redox potential of the water in mV; chlorine is followed indirectly from this value. The ORP reading changes with pH and temperature. In public pools where chlorine is tracked as a figure, the free chlorine electrode is chosen.

The ECC1 electrolyte gel and CL.01.02 membrane are the consumable parts of the free chlorine electrode. If the reading departs clearly from a manual chlorine test or calibration does not hold, both are renewed together. They are also changed when scratches, dirt or scale appear on the membrane. After the change, the electrode is calibrated again.

The two parts do different jobs. The Salt Electrolysis Replacement Electrode is the plate in the electrolysis cell that produces chlorine from salt. Amperometric, pH and ORP electrodes only measure and are fitted in the measuring chamber of the control panel. If chlorine output has dropped, the cell electrode is checked; if the reading has drifted, the measuring electrode is checked.

The electrodes are used in the measuring line of automatic control panels. The free chlorine electrode sits in panels that measure ppm, and the pH and ORP electrodes in panels that measure pH/ORP. AstralPool AP PR-200 Series, AstralPool Control Connect and AstralPool Poolguard / Poolwatch are panels of this kind. The electrode type and code on the panel are checked before ordering.

Measuring electrodes age with use, and dirt and scale build up on the tip. On the free chlorine electrode, the membrane clogs and the electrolyte gel is used up. The panel then reads differently from the actual value and dosing drifts accordingly. With regular calibration and part renewal, the reading is kept close to a manual water test.

The ORP electrode is calibrated with the 470 mV calibration solution. The solution comes in a 30 mL bottle. The pH 7.0 and pH 4.0 solutions belong to the pH electrode and do not replace ORP calibration. The free chlorine electrode is used with its own electrolyte gel and membrane parts; when ordering, the solution is chosen by electrode type.
