Salt chlorinator capacity depends on pool volume, g/h output, water temperature and daily run time. What to compare in a quotation.
The capacity of a salt chlorine generator is not chosen only by how many cubic metres the pool holds.
Water temperature, daily production time, bather load, the cover and the intended maintenance routine are assessed together. The recommended volume in a product table may rest on certain assumptions.
For this reason, before comparing the m³ figures of two units, it is necessary to read under which conditions that figure is given. The same production capacity may not meet the needs of the same pool under different conditions of use. During pool consultancy, actual operating information is included in the capacity calculation.
g/h expresses the amount of chlorine the unit can produce under the stated conditions.
m³, on the other hand, is the pool volume the manufacturer associates with its assumptions of use. These two figures are not the same information. When the daily running time changes, total production is also affected.
Calculated production does not replace the measurement of free chlorine in the pool. Factors such as temperature, bather load and organic contamination affect demand. Once the unit is installed, monitoring of measurements and settings must continue.

Chlorine production and pH control are different tasks.
A unit being described as pH compatible may not mean that the measuring probe and dosing pump are included in the package. The parts list in the quotation and the required auxiliary equipment must be checked.
Cover mode, flow protection and temperature warnings also vary by model. More features do not create the same value in every pool; a system should be chosen that suits the need and allows access for maintenance.
The pool volume, the water temperature measured in summer, the daily filtration programme, cover use and the number of bathers are needed as a starting point.
Current chlorine/pH measurements and photographs of the plant area complete the assessment.
