Short answer

A lit display does not show that the pool is receiving as much chlorine as it needs.

Running time, the output setting, water conditions or protection warnings can affect the result. The first step is to verify the measurement and record the status shown by the unit.

Free chlorine and total chlorine are not the same measurement. The method and range of the test kit must be checked. When the chlorine concentration is very high, colour tests such as DPD can bleach, making the result appear lower than it is, or even zero. If the measurement is not reliable, increasing the unit setting is not a correct starting point.

Short answer

The operating limits of the unit depend on the model.

Output may drop in cold water or at unsuitable salinity; when the flow condition is not met, the protection function may stop production. The meaning of a warning code should be read only from the manual for the model concerned.

Bypassing the flow sensor, disabling the protection or forcing production to continue is not a solution. If there is a flow problem, the pump, filter and pipework should be checked safely by technical service.

Short answer

A cell needing maintenance is one of the possible causes, but it cannot be confirmed simply because chlorine is low.

Water tests, the operating programme and the unit's warnings must be assessed together. For cells with a self-cleaning function, the checks in the instructions still continue.

No general home recipe should be applied for removing the cell, acid cleaning or working on the electrical connection. The wrong method can damage the pool finish. Isolating the unit from power and making it hydraulically safe is part of the technical work.

Short answer

A recurring flow warning, an unexplained drop in output, a leak, a damaged cable or a situation that cannot be resolved through observations made in line with the instructions requires a service assessment.

The pool is not kept in use on the basis of the unit running alone, without suitable water quality being achieved.
