The Salt Electrolysis Spare Electrode is a chlorine production cell fitted in place of a worn electrode in public pool salt chlorinators. Çilek Havuz supplies Spare Electrodes through quotes and as part of its projects. Users and applications

The spare electrode is replaced in a salt chlorinator whose chlorine output has fallen or that has completed its operating hours. The unit body is kept; only the cell is renewed. The correct electrode is found from the series name and capacity on the unit label. Pro-Chlore Salt and Nature Salt electrodes are EX type; Nature Salt electrodes also work with low-salt LS units.

Installation and compatible equipment

Before replacement, the power to the unit is switched off. The electrode is chosen from the model that matches the series name and capacity on the unit label, and fitted to the cell following the manufacturer's replacement instructions. When the old electrode is removed, the cable connection is disconnected, and the new one is seated in the same position. After fitting, the unit is checked for leaks; the hour counter and output value of the unit are monitored again.

  1. The series name and capacity are read from the unit label and the electrode is chosen.
  2. The power to the unit is switched off and the cell line is closed.
  3. The cable connection is disconnected and the old electrode is removed.
  4. The new electrode is seated and connected.
  5. The line is opened, and leaks and chlorine output are checked.

Maintenance checkpoints

Electrode life is determined by the salt level, water hardness and operating hours. The salt level is kept within the range recommended for the unit: 5 to 12 g/l for Easy Salt and Pro-Chlore Salt, 1.5 to 3 g/l for Nature Salt. If scale is seen on the plates, it is dissolved following the cleaning instructions of the unit. Running with low salt wears the plates quickly.

  • The salt level is kept within the range for the series.
  • The plates are checked periodically for scale.
  • The operating hour counter of the unit is monitored.
  • The pH is kept in balance to reduce scale formation.

The electrode is replaced when chlorine output has fallen noticeably or when the cell has reached the end of its life. Cell life is 10,000 to 12,000 hours on Easy Salt and Easy Salt Next VC units. On Pro-Chlore Salt and Nature Salt units it is 12,000 to 15,000 hours. If the salt level is correct and output is still low, the electrode is checked.

The electrode is matched to the series name and capacity of the unit. The unit label reads, for example, Pro-Chlore Salt A-80EX or Easy Salt 90; the electrode with the same name and capacity is chosen. An electrode of a different capacity is not fitted to the unit and is not used. If the series name cannot be read, the manufacturer code of the unit is used.

Yes, standard, EXT-1 and EXT-2 units of the same capacity use the same electrode. For example, the Pro-Chlore Salt A-120EX electrode fits the A-120EX, A-120EX EXT-1 and EXT-2 units. The EXT versions differ only in their pH and ORP or ppm control hardware. The capacity and series name are sufficient for choosing the electrode.

No, electrodes are not interchangeable between series. Nature Salt works with low salt, in the 1.5 to 3 g/l range; Pro-Chlore Salt uses 5 to 12 g/l of salt. The electrode of each series is made for its own salt range. Even though they carry the same capacity number, the Nature Salt A-50 electrode does not fit the Pro-Chlore Salt A-50EX unit.

The electrodes of the AstralPool Neolysis S unit, on the other hand, are on the Neolysis Spare Parts page together with UV lamps and the quartz chamber. Neolysis S electrodes are offered in 5 capacities between 50 and 300 g/h.

Electrode life is extended by keeping the salt level and pH in balance. Low salt wears the plates quickly, while high pH causes scale to build up on the plates. The unit is not run at an output setting higher than the pool requires. When scale is seen on the plates, the cleaning instructions of the unit are followed and the salt level is measured again.

For Easy Salt there are EXT-1 compatible electrodes for the 50, 70, 90 and 180 models. For Easy Salt Next there are electrodes for the 75, 100, 150 and 190 pH/ORP models. The electrode is matched to the model of the unit. Easy Salt series electrodes do not fit Pro-Chlore Salt or Nature Salt units.
