Users and applications
The Hydraulic Safety Valve is fitted to the drain line in installations with an automatic multiport valve on the sand filter. While changing position, or when the power is cut, the automatic valve may remain in the drain position; in that case the safety valve keeps the line closed and the pool water does not go to the drain. For this reason it is recommended for systems with a VRAC automatic valve.

Installation and compatible equipment
The Hydraulic Safety Valve is fitted to the drain line of the automatic valve and is 1½ inch in size. If the drain line has solvent weld connections, the Ø50 mm model is chosen; if it has threaded connections, the 1½ inch BSP model. If the valve is ordered together with the Automatic Pool Filter Multiport Valve, the line is protected from the outset.

Maintenance checkpoints
As the Hydraulic Safety Valve sits on the drain line, its maintenance is based on monitoring the line. If no water flows from the drain line while the automatic valve is in the filtration position, the safety valve is doing its job. If leaks are seen at the connections, the solvent weld or threaded connection is checked. After a power cut, the pool water level is checked.

The valve is the safeguard of an automatic valve installation against water loss.

It is fitted to the drain line of the valve in installations with an automatic multiport valve on the sand filter. It is recommended for systems with a VRAC automatic valve. The valve is 1½ inch in size. In an installation with a manual valve the position is selected with the handle, so this part is not needed; it is only required on an automatic valve line. The line connection is either solvent weld or threaded.

The connection type of the drain line decides. If the line has solvent weld connections the Ø50 mm model is used, and if it is threaded the 1½ inch BSP model. Both models have the same function and the same weight of 1.8 kg; the only difference is how they connect to the line. When choosing a model, it is enough to look at the drain outlet of the automatic valve.

The automatic valve manages the filter, while the safety valve only protects the drain line. The automatic valve changes position in 1½ and 2 inch sizes and runs backwashing on a programme. The safety valve does not manage a filter on its own; it is an auxiliary part that prevents water loss on the drain line of the automatic valve.

No. The safety valve guards against the risk of the automatic valve remaining in the drain position while changing position or when the power is cut. The position of the Manual Multiport Valve is selected by hand with the handle, and the valve does not change position by itself. For this reason the safety valve is only used on a line with an automatic valve.

Buying them together is recommended. In a pool where backwashing depends on the automatic valve, the drain line should not be left unprotected. If the Hydraulic Safety Valve is requested in the same order as the Automatic Pool Filter Multiport Valve, the line is protected from the start. The valve comes in two models according to the connection type. The order is placed together.

A PVC ball valve is opened and closed by hand with a lever, and closing the line is up to the user. The Hydraulic Safety Valve takes on the protective role on the drain line of the automatic valve by itself. A ball valve is for general line shut-off, while the safety valve only guards against the risk of water loss on the automatic valve line.
