Zodiac Hydroxinator iQ is a magnesium mineral electrolysis unit that produces chlorine by electrolysis of MagnaPool® Minerals added to the pool water. Çilek Havuz supplies Hydroxinator iQ through quotes and as part of its projects. The Hydroxinator iQ 10, 18, 22 and 35 models produce 10-35 g/h of chlorine and suit pools of 40-160 m³. The unit connects to the iAquaLink app over Wi-Fi and can be extended with pH Link or Dual Link.

Users and applications
Zodiac Hydroxinator iQ is chosen for pools chlorinated with a mineral blend of magnesium and potassium chloride instead of table salt. MagnaPool® Minerals are added to the pool water, and the unit produces chlorine from this mineralised water. The system can be installed together with filters that use glass media instead of sand. The model is chosen by the water volume of the pool.

Installation and compatible equipment
The hardware is the same as eXO iQ: the cell is fitted horizontally on the return line after the filter and connects to DN50, DN63 or 1 ½" (48 mm) pipe. The control unit is hung on the wall no more than 1.8 m from the cell. MagnaPool® Minerals are added to the pool instead of salt, and the level is brought to 4 g/l.

Maintenance checkpoints
The mineral level is monitored from the app and topped up with MagnaPool® Minerals before it falls below 3.3 g/l; table salt is not used for topping up. The cell is cleaned through polarity reversal, set at an interval of 2 to 8 hours. Cell life is 10,000 hours. The display and app are available in 11 languages.
- The mineral level is checked after rain and after water is added.
- A low level is topped up only with MagnaPool® Minerals.
- The polarity interval is kept short in hard water.
- Before winter, the cell is removed and stored in a frost-free place.

The unit produces chlorine from this mineralised water by electrolysis.

This mineralised water, passing through the Hydroxinator iQ cell, produces chlorine by electrolysis, and the pool is disinfected in this way. Crystal Clear Filter Media, which uses glass media in the filter, can be added to the system as an option.

Both units use the same control unit, cell design and capacity steps: 10, 18, 22 and 35 g/h. The difference is in what is added to the pool. Zodiac eXO iQ works with table salt, Hydroxinator iQ with MagnaPool® Minerals. The recommended level is 4 g/l for both.

Crystal Clear Filter Media is not mandatory; it is an optional add-on. It is a glass crystal media that replaces the sand in a sand filter and comes in two grain sizes, 0.7-1.3 mm and 1.0-3.0 mm. The 1.0-3.0 mm media is added to cover the filter laterals, and the 0.7-1.3 mm media makes up the total weight.

There are four models. Hydroxinator iQ 10 is for 40 m³, Hydroxinator iQ 18 for 70 m³, Hydroxinator iQ 22 for 100 m³ and Hydroxinator iQ 35 for 160 m³ pools. Their chlorine outputs are 10, 18, 22 and 35 g/h respectively. In a hot climate or under heavy use, the next model up is chosen.

Yes, Zodiac pH Link or Zodiac Dual Link is used with Hydroxinator iQ; both are plug-and-play modules of the eXO iQ family. pH Link doses for pH only, while Dual Link measures ORP together with pH. The modules are optional and purchased as separate products; the unit also works without a module.

Cell life is 10,000 hours and the unit has a 3-year warranty. The electrode is SC6 ruthenium-coated titanium. The cell works in a horizontal position and polarity reverses at an interval of 2 to 8 hours. The unit works in water between 5 and 40 °C; it has Wi-Fi connectivity and the iAquaLink app.
