Kivu Pre-Filter, Centrifugal Pool Pump.
Kivu is a three-phase centrifugal pool pump with a pre-filter, connected to the filtration line of the pool. Çilek Havuz supplies Kivu through quotes and as part of its projects. Its six power ratings range from 3 to 15 HP, and each comes in a 230/400 V or 400/690 V version. The motor runs at 1500 rpm and is class IE3. The discharge connection is 100 mm on the 3-5.5 HP models and 125 mm on the 7.5-15 HP models.

Users and applications
Kivu is chosen as the circulation pump that passes water through the filter and returns it to the pool in public pools. The model is set by the flow rate and head required by the line; 3 HP is the smallest rating and 15 HP the largest. The pre-filter comes with the pump and has a transparent lid. The mechanical seal is designed to work in sea water.

Installation and compatible equipment
Kivu is mounted on a solid floor between the suction line from the pool and the filter. The pump and pre-filter are delivered in two separate packages, and the pre-filter is connected on the suction side. The motor is three-phase; the version that suits the mains voltage is chosen. On the 3 HP and 4 HP models, supply and protection can be provided through the Electrical Control Panel.

- The suction line is connected to the pre-filter inlet and the discharge outlet to the filter line.
- The motor is connected to the three-phase supply line in the version that suits the mains voltage.
- The supply is provided through a panel with motor protection or through the Electrical Control Panel.
// 04 · Maintenance
Maintenance checkpoints
The routine task is removing leaves and debris collected in the strainer basket while the pump is off. As the lid is transparent, how full the basket is can be seen from outside. After cleaning, the lid is seated and closed. If there is a change in running noise or vibration, the suction line and connection points are checked.

The pump grows with the rating: length is between 882 mm and 1315 mm, and weight between 56.4 kg and 151.2 kg. The rating that suits the pool's filtration line is set at the quotation stage.

All Kivu models run on a three-phase, 50 Hz supply. Each power rating comes in two versions: 230/400 V and 400/690 V. Both versions have the same power, weight and connections; the difference is the mains voltage the motor is connected to. The version is chosen according to the three-phase mains voltage of the site.

On the 3, 4 and 5.5 HP models the discharge connection is 100 mm (4 inch). On the 7.5, 10 and 15 HP models the discharge is 125 mm (5 inch) and the suction 150 mm (6 inch). If the pipeline differs from these diameters, an adaptor fitting is used. As the connection diameter grows with power, the choice of model also determines the line diameter.

Kivu runs at 1500 rpm and Maxim with Pre-Filter at 2860 rpm. Kivu offers six ratings between 3 and 15 HP, and its motor is class IE3. Maxim with Pre-Filter stays in the 3.5-5.5 HP range, has a 3 inch threaded connection and carries an 8 litre strainer basket. If high power and low speed are needed, Kivu is chosen.

Yes, Kivu is shipped with a pre-filter; the pump and pre-filter are delivered in two separate packages. There is no need to buy a separate pre-filter. The pre-filter lid is transparent, so it can be seen without dismantling whether the basket is full. The basket is opened while the pump is off, cleaned, and the lid is closed again.

Yes, the mechanical seal of Kivu is made to work in sea water. The pump body is plastic. It can therefore also be used on pool lines that use salt water. The pipes, valves and other parts of a line that will run on sea water are also chosen to suit the same environment. The seal is only the part of this line on the pump side.

The noise level of Kivu reaches up to 59 dBA on the 3-5.5 HP models and up to 66 dBA on the 7.5-15 HP models. As the motor turns at 1500 rpm, it is a low speed pump. Hydraulic efficiency is 78% on the 3-5.5 HP models and 85% on the 7.5-15 HP models. The hydraulic efficiency figure is given for the pump without the pre-filter.
