The Maxim pre-filter pump is a centrifugal pool pump with an 8 litre strainer basket, used on high-flow pool lines. Çilek Havuz supplies Maxim through quotes and as part of its projects. Its three models are rated 3.5, 4.5 and 5.5 HP; all are supplied at three-phase 230/400 V and have a 3 inch threaded connection. The motor runs at 2860 rpm and the maximum head is 19.5 m. The body is plastic and the shaft is AISI-316 stainless steel.

Users and applications
Maxim is chosen as a circulation pump for pools that need high flow on the filter line. At 8 m head, the 3.5 HP model delivers 56 m³/h and the 5.5 HP model 88 m³/h. As head increases, flow falls; the 3.5 HP model delivers 23 m³/h at 16 m head. The weight is between 32 and 37 kg, and the body with strainer basket comes with the pump.

// 03 · Installation and compatibility
Installation and compatible equipment
Maxim is fitted between the suction line from the pool and the filter; the connection is a 3 inch thread. As the strainer basket comes with the pump, no separate pre-filter is needed. It is self-priming up to 1.5 m; the housing is filled with water before first start-up. The supply is taken from a three-phase 230/400 V line. The discharge goes to a filter such as the Olot Filament Wound Filter.
- The pump is placed on a solid, level base next to the filter in the plant room.
- The suction line is connected to the 3 inch threaded inlet and the discharge to the filter.
- The housing is filled with water and the transparent lid is closed.
- The three-phase 230/400 V supply line is connected.

Maintenance checkpoints
Routine work consists of removing leaves and coarse debris from the 8 litre strainer basket while the pump is off. As the lid is transparent, how full the basket is can be seen from outside. After cleaning, the basket is refitted and the housing is filled with water. If there is a clear change in running noise or flow, the suction line is checked.

+90 216 475 39 37The choice is determined by the flow and operating head required by the filter line. At 8 m head, the 3.5 HP model delivers 56 m³/h, the 4.5 HP 74 m³/h and the 5.5 HP 88 m³/h. All three models use the same body and 3 inch threaded connection. If the head loss of the line is high, the next power step up is considered.

Flow falls as head increases. The 3.5 HP model delivers 56, 50, 42, 34 and 23 m³/h at 8, 10, 12, 14 and 16 m head. The 5.5 HP model delivers 88, 78, 67, 53 and 34 m³/h at the same heads. The maximum head of all three models is 19.5 m.

Maxim covers 3.5-5.5 HP, runs at 2860 rpm and has a 3 inch threaded connection; its basket is 8 litres. Colorado covers 4-12.5 HP, runs at 3000 rpm and connects at Ø90 or Ø110; its body is fibreglass-reinforced polypropylene. If higher power or a 400/690 V supply is needed, Colorado is chosen.

The basket holds 8 litres and sits in a housing with a transparent lid. Coarse debris is held in this basket before it reaches the pump. As the lid is transparent, how full it is can be seen from outside. The basket is removed and cleaned while the pump is off. The body with basket comes with the pump, so no separate pre-filter is needed. The pump is self-priming and can draw water up to 1.5 m.

All three Maxim models are three-phase and connect to a 230/400 V line. There is no single-phase version. The motors run at 2860 rpm. Power comes in 3.5, 4.5 and 5.5 HP steps; the line is sized to meet the power of the selected HP step. In a building with a single-phase line, a pump with a single-phase option is chosen instead of Maxim.

All three models have a 3 inch threaded connection. The weight is 32 kg for the 3.5 HP model, 34 kg for the 4.5 HP model and 37 kg for the 5.5 HP model. The body is plastic and the shaft is AISI-316 stainless steel. The pump runs at 2860 rpm and is self-priming up to 1.5 m.

The nominal flow of the filter must meet the flow of the pump at the selected head. For the 56 m³/h flow of the 3.5 HP model at 8 m head, the 1200 mm model of the Vesubio (Volcano) Commercial Sand Filter, at 56 m³/h, is suitable. The 1600 mm model of the Olot Filament Wound Filter delivers 60 m³/h. For higher flow, a larger diameter filter is chosen.
