Poolwatch Basic measures 2 parameters and provides 2 analogue outputs; Poolwatch pH, Rx, PPM offers 3 parameters and 4 analogue outputs. The Poolwatch models have an RS-485 connection.

Users and applications
Poolguard / Poolwatch is chosen for automatic monitoring of water quality in large public and institutional pools. Poolguard manages the pH and Redox values on a single panel together with the pH Exactus and Rx Exactus pumps. As the Poolwatch models transmit the measurement via RS-485 and analogue outputs, they can be connected to an automation system. The ppm chlorine models are used in facilities where free chlorine is to be monitored in ppm.

Installation and compatible equipment
The panel is connected to a sample line that takes water from the line after the filter, and is mounted on a wall in the plant room. The water first passes through the pre-filter and then reaches the sensors in the electrode chamber. On the Poolguard panel, the pH and Rx dosing pumps are on the panel; on the Poolwatch models, the outputs are connected to existing dosing equipment or to the automation system. The electrodes are calibrated at first start-up.
- The panel is mounted on a wall in the plant room.
- The sample line is taken from the filter outlet and connected to the panel inlet.
- The panel outlet is routed to the return line or to drain.
- The electrodes are fitted in the chamber, and pH and Redox calibration is carried out.
- The Poolwatch outputs are connected to the automation system via RS-485 or an analogue line.

Maintenance checkpoints
Measuring accuracy depends on the cleanliness and calibration of the electrodes. The pH electrode is calibrated with pH 7.0 and pH 4.0 solutions, the Redox electrode with 470 mV solution. The pre-filter is cleaned as it gets dirty. The electrolyte gel and membrane of the amperometric chlorine electrode are renewed periodically; these parts are listed on the site as separate products.

The panel also carries the pre-filter, electrode chamber and calibration solutions. Poolwatch, by contrast, is measurement-focused: it measures 2 or 3 parameters and passes the result to the automation system via RS-485 and analogue outputs.

Redox shows the effectiveness of the disinfectant in the water in mV; ppm chlorine measures the amount of free chlorine directly. In a public pool where the chlorine level is to be monitored as a figure, a ppm chlorine model is chosen. The Poolwatch pH, Rx, PPM panel carries out both measurements together and provides 4 analogue outputs.

Yes, the Poolwatch models connect to an automation system via an RS-485 communication line. The Poolwatch Basic models have 2 analogue outputs and the Poolwatch pH, Rx, PPM model has 4. The analogue outputs pass the measured value to another device. These communication options are not listed for the Poolguard panel.

Both models measure 2 parameters and offer 2 analogue outputs and an RS-485 connection. The pH, Redox model monitors disinfectant effectiveness in mV. The pH, PPM organic chlorine model measures the amount of free chlorine in ppm with an amperometric electrode. In a pool where the chlorine value is to be monitored as a figure, the PPM model is preferred.

Poolwatch is a standalone measuring panel that passes the measurement to the automation system via RS-485 and analogue outputs. The AstralPool AP PR-200 Series, on the other hand, is an external controller that manages the Easy Salt, Pro-Chlore Salt, Nature Salt and Neolysis salt chlorinators. AP PR-200 is chosen for a salt electrolysis pool, Poolguard or Poolwatch for a pool with chemical dosing.

The page includes the pH, ORP and free chlorine electrodes, the pH 7.0, pH 4.0 and 470 mV solutions, ECC1 electrolyte gel and the CL.01.02 membrane. The part is chosen according to the type of measurement.
