Pool Heat Exchanger Models, definition and selection criteria
A pool heat exchanger is a unit that transfers the heat of hot water from a boiler, combi boiler or central heating line to the pool water without mixing the two waters. The boiler water circulates in the primary circuit, and the pool water in the return line after the filter. This page covers the titanium tube Waterheat EVO and Heat Line, the titanium plate Uranus and ETNA heat exchangers, and the Etna 40 kW model. Waterheat EVO is installed with a bypass connection; Heat Line is fitted in the line without a bypass, and the entire pool flow passes through it. Selection starts with two pieces of information: the output the boiler can allocate to the pool and the inlet temperature of the primary water.

Selection
Output falls as the inlet temperature drops; for low temperature sources such as condensing combi boilers or heat pumps, the 60°C or 45°C value is checked. The connection on the pool side is, depending on the model, G 1", G 1 1/2", ISO G2 thread or PVC Ø50 and Ø63.

At a 60°C inlet, Heat Line delivers 8.5 to 30 kW, Waterheat EVO 10 to 210 kW and Uranus 27 to 123 kW. The split between space heating and the pool is planned on these values.

Reference value for low temperature sources
For sources such as condensing combi boilers or heat pumps, the 45°C value is used. At this temperature Heat Line delivers 4 to 14 kW, Waterheat EVO 5 to 100 kW and Uranus 15 to 68 kW.

Pool water flow through the heat exchanger
The pool side flow rate is 2 to 8.7 m³/h on Uranus and 10 to 20 m³/h on Heat Line. Because Heat Line is connected without a bypass, the flow rate of the filtration pump is checked against these values.

+90 216 475 39 37Hot water from the boiler or combi boiler passes through the titanium tubes or plates of the heat exchanger in the primary circuit. The pool water picks up this heat as it passes through the same body in the return line after the filter. The two waters do not mix; the chlorine dosing or salt chlorinator unit sits after the heat exchanger.

Waterheat EVO has a titanium alloy coil inside a titanium body, and Heat Line has titanium tubes inside a Noryl polyamide housing. Uranus is made of titanium plates, while ETNA consists of corrugated titanium sheets with EPDM gaskets in an epoxy painted carbon steel body. The model is chosen by output, pool flow rate and connection size.

Output falls as the inlet temperature of the primary water drops. Uranus 70 delivers 80 kW at a 90°C inlet, 38 kW at a 60°C inlet and 21 kW at a 45°C inlet; for Heat Line 70 the same values are 70, 30 and 14 kW. For low temperature sources the model is chosen on the 45°C or 60°C value.

Waterheat EVO is installed in an L-type arrangement with a bypass connection, and part of the pool flow is passed through the heat exchanger. Heat Line is fitted to the filter return line without a bypass; the pool flow rate is given as 10 m³/h for Heat Line 20 and 20 m³/h for Heat Line 70. The flow rate of the filtration pump is checked against these values.

Bare models are the heat exchanger itself; the thermostat and electrical connection are provided on the installation side. Uranus Plus comes with a digital thermostat and 230 V supply, and Heat Line Plus with thermostatic regulation. Heat Line Plus with pump and ETNA Complete also carry a primary circuit circulation pump; this level is chosen if there is no pump in the boiler circuit.

A heat exchanger does not produce heat by itself; it transfers heat from an existing boiler, combi boiler or central heating line to the pool. If the building has no source that can allocate output to the pool, the products on the Pool Heat Pumps or Electric Pool Heaters pages are considered. If you contact us with the pool dimensions and boiler details, we will determine the right model together.
