Pool Dosing Pump Models, definition and selection criteria
A pool dosing pump is a pump that draws liquid pool chemicals from a tank and delivers a measured amount into the pressurised pipework at an injection point. The pumps on this page fall into three operating modes. Exactus and the manual Acqua Dos models dose at a set fixed rate and do not measure. Optima and the proportional Acqua Dos vary the dose according to a 4-20 mA analogue signal or a digital pulse from a water meter. Optima Next and the pH/ORP Acqua Dos measure the value with their own controller and dose. Selection considers three pieces of information together: the flow rate for the daily chemical demand, the back pressure limit for the line pressure at the injection point, and the power supply. The pumps cover a flow range of 5 to 32 l/h and a back pressure range of 4 to 10 bar.

Selection

Choosing the dosing pump flow rate
Exactus and Optima Next are offered at 5 l/h, Optima at 5 or 10 l/h, and Acqua Dos at 5, 10 and 32 l/h. The flow rate is chosen by the daily chemical demand of the pool.

Maximum line pressure of the pump
The Acqua Dos 5 and 10 l/h models work up to 10 bar back pressure, the 32 l/h model up to 4 bar. Optima Type B is rated at 7-10 bar, Type C at 5 bar, Optima Next at 8 bar and Exactus at 7 or 10 bar. The pressure limit of the pump must not be lower than the line pressure at the injection point.

The polyethylene chemical tank is offered in five capacities: 125, 250, 350, 500 and 1000 L. The capacity is chosen by the amount of chemical the pump uses and the refilling interval.

Optima and Optima Next work with 90-265 V, 50-60 Hz. The supply of the Acqua Dos series is 100-240 V, 50/60 Hz.

The Acqua Dos series comes in four control modes: manual analogue, manual digital, proportional and pH/ORP. In every mode the 5 l/h and 10 l/h models work at 10 bar and the 32 l/h model at 4 bar. On the pH/ORP model the electrode kits are sold separately.

Optima does not measure; it doses according to an external 4-20 mA or water meter signal. Optima Next has a built-in pH/Redox controller and doses on its own according to the value measured by the electrode. Optima is preferred in a facility with a measurement panel, Optima Next for a pump that will work on its own.

No, acid and chlorine are not kept in the same tank and are never mixed. A separate polyethylene tank is installed for the pH regulator and for the liquid chlorine, and each tank is connected to its own dosing pump. The outlet fitting at the bottom of the tank is connected to the suction line of the pump.

When powder or granular chemicals are dissolved in water, part of them settles at the bottom of the tank. In an unmixed solution the pump draws liquid of varying concentration. The manual mixer is turned by hand, needs no electricity and is chosen in a length of 60 or 90 cm according to the tank depth. A tank holding ready-made liquid chemicals does not need a mixer.
